There are specific times in life where guys bond (no homo). An event that can leads to this can be anything ranging from dinner to a camping trip. I recently had a moment (seriously NO HOMO) with Navied and Bryan not too long ago over dinner at La Capilla. Before I even get into brah-mance, I gotta explain La Capilla because it deserves attention.

La Capilla was this mexican restraunt we went to when Xaos was around. It was on the other side of the plaza next to that nasty pho place. We used to go there all the time to get the burrito especial or something while at Xaos. Than one day, Chris Erickson recommended to me that I get the arrozo con pollo + tortilla soup. So did exactly that and HOLY SHIT. The tortilla soup is like a vegetable soup they make plus like this CLUMP of cheese they throw into this tiny soup. Sounds gross but it's really good. The arrozo con pollo is like this chicken over rice dish that is just COVERED IN CHEESE. Oh man, if you love cheese and chicken, you will absolutely love this dish. Seriously never get sick of it. I am seriously forever in debt to Erickson because he introduce me to this insane dish. Would of never known if it wasn't for him. Sadly, we found out that La Capilla closed one day (maybe 3-ish years back) because Bryan told me it wasn't there anymore. That was a sad sad day and we thought we had lost our arrozo con pollo forever. Than one day(6months ago-ish), while going to Jason Cho's pad, we spotted a La Capilla (located in La Palma) and wondered if that is the same place as the one in Anaheim. Navied and Bryan went to confirm and he told me the arrozo con pollo "was fucken good" so I was sold. Since than we have gone several times to our favorite mexican "cheese" joint. So if you want cheese, go there - THE PANDA SAID SO.

Anywayz..... onto the main story. So during dinner, we were just eating a ton of good food, just chillin and talking about random shit. I don't know at what point, but somewhere in that dinner, all 3 of us just clicked. We chatted for hours about random shit from magic to girls. We must of talked for 2 hours at the restaurant and another hour outside by our cars. That is just how much fun we were having that night, just trollin' each other and shit. Well, more like trollin' Bryan for all his looseness + girls but whatever. Now, don't be all jealous and shit cause I did this with Navied and Bryan and not you. I've had bromance moments (no homo) with bunch of my friends and there is plenty of bear to go around so don't worry.

Some topics we discussed.....Bryan is offically a pimp now for some reason. He has TWO girls latching onto him and he doesn't know what to do. Obviously he prefers one to the other but, he has room to test the waters for now. Of course Navied (the porn director) immediately suggested a 3 some because it will never come around again. Seriously though, I've been around Bryan a lot latetly, and foo texts some girl 24/7 non stop. He went from 5 texts a week to 100000, that he was forced to switch to a unlimited text plan in less than a week. Damn son, latched on much?

So where is my part in this with hot korean girls and shit? Well there is none because I am gay and madly in love with Tuan (not really, because he can't win packs at pre-releases...)

All guys grade girls differently. People have different tastes and "that's fine" (Chris). What someone would find a 7/10 will be 4/10 in some people's book. There is also the e-standard that we know of. It is mainly used to grade celebrities or models. The e-standard is usually used separately for the super hawt but it can transfer over to the real world. This happens because your too used to seeing internet pics and set the bar too high (probably cause you ain't getting any). Now, don't go calling me out and shit cause you think I'm dissing your girl or something. This is something well understood by all guys so just chill before you judge me.....bitch.

Now, I will admit I have seen some girls that someone considers "decent" to be flat out nasty. But it's never just ME though ok. Like 10 people will confirm that I am right and that one guy had to be drunk (let's hope).

Example in LA - So we're at this 24/7 Korean restaurant on 6th and Alexandria and I think it's me, Alex the platoon leader, Matt the reformed Korean, and I think Ed. So we order and we over hear this group of asians next to us talking. This one dude pulls out his phone and shows his friends a picture of a girl.

Fail (The guy bragging about some girl) - "Dude, isn't she hot?"

Friend A - "Uhhhh.... no"

Friend B - "Dude, I wouldn't even bang her"


LOL.....let's be realistic here for a moment. Most guys would bang pretty much anything. If you bang a 3/10, no one isn't gonna give you too much shit. Dating a 3/10 and banging is wayyyyyyy different ok. So if someone wouldn't bang, that means that chick is a fucken 1/10. Feel bad for the guy, but his homies gotta be real with him. He looked crushed after he heard his friend's comments lol. Worst part is, we had to contain our laughter cause we didn't wanna be douche and admit we overheard this convo.

I had to work 12 days straight thanks to some convention in Vegas I had to attend. Even though I been tired for about 2 weeks straight now, it was fun hanging out with co-workers in Vegas. The schedule literally was wake up early, work into the 6-ish area, dinner with workers + drinks, than hang out and more drinks. I can't even hold my alcohol so you can imagine how I felt everyday in the morning..... like shit. Last weekend felt so good even though I didn't do anything crazy. It was nice to wake up and not worry about going to work.

I did manage to see two movies this weekend. No, not fucken eat, pray, shit or something by Julia Roberts (fags). I saw Expendables which was totally bad ass. It's just old skool action at its best and was very enjoyable. You don't think about plots or what not, just the next time some random dude is gonna get shot or stabbed. If you love action movies, go check that shit out. The second movie I saw was Scott Pilgrim. It was very weird at first but you get used to the movie's "playstyle" and start enjoying it for what it is. I can see a lot of people not liking this kind of theme as it did poorly in the box office this weekend. But if you have any nerd blood in you, you will probably like this movie. I'm looking at you....fucken nerd.

Last week was great weather but of course when we play ball on sunday, it had to be hot as hell. Oh man, the heat kills your stamina and you don't feel like playing after 20 mins. I have little stamina as is, so I ran out of juice instantly for the rest of the day. I sweat so much that after the basketball session, I can literally grab my headband and squeeze the sweat out like a fucken wet rag. Gross.

Delayed

Yea, I been kind of delaying my updates, so my bad. I'm just gonna talk about some random stuff so here we go.

So.... I turned 25 (GG) and I got super wasted at Gardner's bar. The worst part was when I went to say bye to Gardner, he made me drink some purple birthday drink they have. Made me take 3 double shots of that stuff. It wasn't that strong but I was pretty much already gone so yea.... On the way back to Sean's place, I made Bryan pull over where I puked a shit ton. I hurl'd at least 5 times on the sidewalk. To any morning joggers on Katella Ave, I do apologize for the mess I made. Then the fuckers did a bunch of shit to me and took photos when I was passed out in the tub.

Draft - M11 is shit. I hate vanilla formats, it's so draw dependent with so little skill. Everything is just removal or random dudes and whoever has/draws more wins. Bombs are way more powerful (especially those stupid Titans) and harder to beat/deal with. Maybe I prefer RoE cause I can't stop 3-0ing (looking at you Tuan).

STARCRAFT 2 - it's bad ass, I been playing the campaign lately and it's a lot of fun. I'll start into the multi-player but I'm awful at RTS. So sad, I'm like the shitty Korean, can't drink or play SC well. FML

So all the big names are done with this NBA free agency crap with Lebronze's drama queen performance on ESPN being the highlight (seriously, that is just sad). He betrayed all of Cleveland and moved onto to Miami to join Wade and Bosh in there quest for some rings. Of course this did not sit well with the fans as you can see them just lighting it up (seriously) in response to his announcement of ditching Ohio. GL down there in Miami, you have no bench.
I honestly thought Bulls were better fit cause they already have a strong cast, especially after they got Boozer too.


(TRIFORCE - more like sellouts)

Of course there is some other notables, like Dirk staying as well as Ray Ray and Pierce staying. Celtics also signed Jermaine O'neal (WHY WHY) cause they got no center with Perkins out for a bit. Man there just a collection of some old fucks, w/e. David Lee was involved in a sign and trade where he will fit right in with them golden state warriors lolololololol. Why would you ever play D when you can just play O all night. Big Al went to Jazz to replace Boozer and FISHER IS BACK with the Lakers. He was offered more elsewhere but he took the 9 mil - 3 year contract they offered cause he knows LA is where its at (THREE PEAT HERE WE GO). Steve Blake was also a good addition to the Lakers and we can really use that 3 point shooting. There is some other signs / trades like Hedo, Korver, Miller, but who cares.......


On a side note, why can't I stop 3-0ing, it's sick (GEE GEE)

Limited Experiences (the mtg-drafting kind)

So it's been some time since everyone has experienced Rise of Eldrazi limited format and pretty much everyone has a lot to say. The consensus seems to be that Zendikar blew and it is a nice change to go back to a pretty normal format with deck/color synergies with multiple themes. Couple notable deck archetypes being talked about lately are the Green/x ramp, U/W levelers, B/R vamp aggro, and U/b/r control.

The ramp deck is just where you just try to play your big dudes in quick fashion while splashing 1-2 colors for removal. This is my favorite archetype and one of the more powerful ones to play. Drafting ramp decks obviously involves getting all the mana accel, so you have to take them very high. Cards like aura gnarlid aren't high picks when drafting ramp cause you want your bulk of creatures to generate mana or be a huge fatty. Your goal isn't to win in the early turns but you still need to draft defensive cards or removal to stay alive till the later turns where you can dominate. Overgrowth battlement is like the best card in ramp decks, it serves as defense or ramp depending on what you need and should def be a high pick if your deck is leaning towards it. Another thing I've read is that, some of the weaker defenders are worth playing cause they help your deck defend and help accel even more with overgrowth battlement. Battle rampart came up before cause a hasted crusher is way more deadly, but I'm not too sold on that yet. Another one is reinforced bulwark which can be useful in certain decks. Ramp decks get completely exposed by u/w and there evasive creatures, so if you don't have the 1/5 reach spider or removal to deal with them, your going to die before you even cast 1 fatty. So things like reinforced bulwarks prevention shield helps you last a little longer so you can stabilize. Obviously growth spasm, ondu giants are premium picks in ramp but make sure you don't forget to take them extra high if your splashing 1-2 colors for removal. A lot of times you will end up with heavy green, and like 2 red removal and 2 black ones. So to stay consistent, you gotta remember to pick up the rampant growth effects, although you can always fall back on prisms and evolving wilds. Typical fatty is the crusher but you wanna try to get your self the artisan or pelakka wurm (best fatty btw).

U/W is self explanatory by now as everyone has either drafted or died to it many times now. You wanna get your self lots of fliers, lvlers, etc. Be on the look out for teachers, time of heroes, training ground when you can. I always here the discussion of whether to take the support cards early if you see it, or take it only if your established. I'm sure a lot of people have a say and it probably just comes down to preference. But I'm the type who doesn't like wasted picks and only take support cards if I already got the goodies. Be on the look out for oust, wave watchers and totem hartbeest (if you got the auras) as they are both excellent cards that people overlook sometimes.

B/R vamps involve drafting the 1/1 vamp + bunch of eldrazi tokens to feed it. Cards like pawn of ulamog, essence feed, goblin arsonist, the threaten, along with a few others really shine in this deck. Your also b/r, so hopefully you can get a lot of good removal along with aggressive cards like lust for war. I don't have too much experience drafting this deck but you can get the rough idea.

U/b/r is a control deck involving drafting every removal in those colors you see and abusing mnenomic wall and surreal memoir. It runs a ton of spells and tries to pick up cheap cantrip/draw with stuff like see beyond, sea gate oracle to fuel the removal engine and returning it with the 2 named cards above. You run very minimal creatures (6-10) and they all have evasion of some sort so you can finish them easily after you destroy there threats. Cards like the zulaport enforcer is a prime example of creatures they like to run. They also like to run counterspells like deprive just in case they can't stop certain spells. The sphinx wand is also very good in this deck if you see one. This deck is rarely drafted because it requires getting a lot of cards (mainly removal) to make it work.

There are a few other themes I should mention : Kiln Fiend / Fireboar decks using tunnelers, wrap in flame, or using blue for distortion strike is drafted occasionally also. Also remember, you can also draft normal decks and not always force the mention things above. Just cause your green, you don't have to be a ramp deck. I've seen successful aggressive green decks with aura gnarlids and boar umbras, but I prefer ramp every time. I will however mention that white is pretty weak in this format overall and B/W & R/W color combo should be avoided at all costs.

I'm not always correct and make plenty of mistakes so please feel free to disagree with me.

Help from pros - I think it's very useful to read articles on limited written by pros as they have much more insight (there also way better than you lol) into the format. You don't have to agree and mimic their play style or anything, but you can learn a thing or two quite often from just one article.

NBA CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!

Oh man, game 7 was a thriller and there is no better ending than Lakers repeating and Kobe getting his 5th. I was so frustrated that game, especially in the 3rd when there down 13 but that is where our run came. That and1 play Ron made to tie it 61-61 all was so sick than that 3 from fish, and THAT THREE FROM ARTEST OMFG I LOVE YOU ARTEST HAHAHAHAH. Man, his D was ridiculous too on Pierce, I give him props. Fucken Kobe shot us out of the game 1st half but in the 4th when it mattered, GG. I'm sure Perkins would of helped (cry more BAW BAW BAW BAWSTON) but we grabbed 23 offensive rebounds, GG indeed. Pau had a monster 19-18 game where he just dominated the glass all night. Man this victory felt so good, I LOVE YOU LAKERS !!!!!!
